Seven hours short, and nobody noticed
Friday's session is the short one: the market closes at 16:00 Chicago and does not reopen until Sunday evening. Yesterday that left 16 trading hours instead of the usual 23, and 113 of you filled 26 countries with them anyway.
Friday is the runt of the trading week and almost nobody talks about it. The CME closes at 16:00 Chicago on Friday afternoon and stays shut until Sunday evening, so a Friday session holds 16 hours of trading where Monday through Thursday each hold 23. Seven hours gone, every week, by design.
Yesterday that showed up exactly where you would expect and nowhere else. The trade count fell from Thursday's 784 to 570. The contract count did not move: 2,084 against Thursday's 2,067. Fewer clicks, same size on the board. And 113 traders from 26 countries still turned up for the short day, which is only 21 fewer than Thursday in a session with a third less clock.
Where Friday came from
Three continents inside six traders of each other is the part worth sitting with. The United States sent 32 traders, India 24, Nigeria 17, Kenya 6, and then a long tail of 18 countries that sent one or two each: Bulgaria, Burkina Faso, Denmark, Somalia, Tanzania, Latvia, Italy, Bangladesh and the rest. Twelve instruments got traded across the day, and the micro Nasdaq carried it as usual with 352 of the 570 trades. Micro gold took 58, micro crude 45.
Three clean sessions
Took three trades all day and won all three. One and two lots of micro gold, held 93 and 98 minutes, then a 32 minute short on the Dow micro to close. Two accounts, a Track $50,000 and a Track $25,000, and not one rushed decision between them.
Opened a brand new Track $2,500 yesterday morning and went six for six, one contract every time, each trade closed inside five minutes. Small money, but a spotless first day on a fresh account is worth more than a lucky one.
Five trades on the S&P micro, one contract each. The first one went against her and she cut it at $8.75, then took the next four green and finished with her biggest of the day at +$57.50. That is what a stop looks like when you actually use it.
Eleven targets cleared
- Eleven accounts crossed their profit target during the session. Every one was checked by rebuilding the account's balance trade by trade across its whole history and stopping at the Friday close.
- Yasmin V.๐บ๐ธ@AwwfulLotOfTerpzz cleared a Track $2,500 at 08:26 Chicago, Danielle K.๐บ๐ธ@lightembodied at 08:42, Xiao Z.๐บ๐ธ at 10:18.
- Tyler N.๐บ๐ธ@isthattyler started the session sitting at exactly $2,500.00 and finished it above the target, which makes his the cleanest crossing on the board.
- Hersul W.๐ฎ๐ฉ@HW_trades cleared a Flex $5,000 at 12:09 Chicago.
- Six more crossings are counted here but not named, mostly because another account belonging to the same trader closed out on the same day and this is not the place for that. All eleven are evaluation targets, so nobody here is being called funded yet.
In the Pit
The Pit sat at 3,209 members with 1,018 of you active this week. During the session itself there were 119 messages, 10 Pit Stop wins claimed, and 14 new members from 7 countries. None of those 14 arrived through an invite campaign or a giveaway, which is unusual and quietly good news.
The number we keep coming back to: 111 of the 113 traders who traded yesterday are members in here.
Short week, short session, same habits. See you Monday when the clock goes back to 23 hours.
Every trader in this issue is already in there.
